Feteh marks 100th radio broadcast on human rights and civil liberties in Ethiopia

Symbolically titled ‘Justice Brings Peace’, the 100th Yene Menged (My Way) special broadcast marked the impressive milestone reached by Feteh’s partners, the Solomon Advert team, after two years of weekly discussions on a range of topics related to human rights and civil liberties in Ethiopia.

The Feteh-sponsored broadcast was first aired on February 27, 2020. Since then, the discussions followed by 5 and 8 million listeners of the program from across the country centered around the topics such as peace & war, human rights, rule of law, judicial reform, alternative dispute resolutions, land ownership, elections, corruption, criminal justice, prison regulations, to name a few. The program also addressed more than 80 cassation bench decisions, breaking complex legal issues into more manageable concepts, and allowing its listeners to weigh in on them in a manner of judge and jury, both during the broadcast, and on social media.

Feteh team organized a small event inviting partners from Solomon Advert, and Yene Menged listeners from Addis Ababa, Harar, and Debre Markos to celebrate this milestone. All expressed great appreciation for the technical and financial assistance provided by USAID's Feteh in sponsoring the program. Yene Menged continues its regular broadcasts every Thursday.
