New e-tool for BiH Prosecutors to spot-check public procurements for corruption

The fight against corruption in public procurement is one of the key challenges in Bosnia and Herzegovina. USAID funded the development of a new anti-corruption tool in public procurement - the Pratimo tendere portal (www.pratimotendere.ba) through its "USAID Support for citizens in the fight against corruption" program. The portal is intended as an information hub and resource for citizens whose money is spent through the public procurement system, as well as media, researchers, and institutions that are an important link in establishing a legal, transparent and accountable public procurement system in BiH.

In order to raise awareness of Bosnian prosecutors on the new portal as an important tool in their work, the USAID's Judiciary Against Corruption Activity (JACA), in cooperation with the Center for Media Development and Analysis (CRMA), organized a Conference called “Pratimo tendere” this week in Sarajevo. The new portal was presented as a potential source of information for prosecutors on suspicious, non-transparent or illegal public procurement procedures and practices, indicating corruption which could lead to possible initiation of prosecutorial investigations.
