The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) awarded Democracy International (DI) and Development Professionals, Inc. with the multiyear Social Contract Activity in Kosovo. The Activity aims to introduce sustainable practices for public participation in order to strengthen citizens’ partnership with municipal governments and improve overall quality of life. The activity will focus on assessing trust between community stakeholders and local governments; increasing cnfidence in local governments by managing citizen expectations; and steering the municipalities to provide services and information in a way that reinforces the three key pillars of trust: competence, benevolence, and honesty. The Project is an opportunity to work with and support local governments, citizens, and civil society on the path towards a stronger state-society partnership. Activities will target select pilot municipalities and relevant local and national stakeholders.
